SkyeTek partners with ADASA to Speed Availability of World’s First Wearable Gen2 Tag Encoder

Dallas, Tex., February 27, 2006 – The world’s first battery powered wearable Gen2 RFID tag encoder, the ADASA PAD3500 a RFID mandate compliance solution from ADASA Inc., will use encoding modules, software, and hardware reference designs from SkyeTek, Inc.  The announcement made jointly today by ADASA in booth #432 and SkyeTek in booth #313 on the floor of the RFID World tradeshow in Dallas, will help CPG end user customers meet RFID mandates and seamlessly integrates with existing workflows and legacy barcode systems.

“The ADASA PAD3500 utilizes our patent pending ADASA SmartCartridge™ system combined with the SkyeTek module to provide CPG customers with a wearable RFID tag encoder that transparently integrates RFID tagging into their existing businesses practices,” said Clarke McAllister, President of ADASA Inc.  “We selected SkyeTek’s encoding modules, software, and reference designs after much research because they were uniquely suited to meet our requirements for form factor, ease of integration, time-to-market as well as multi-protocol capability.”

ADASA will begin Beta testing the PAD3500 on March 1, 2006 with CPG customers and will begin volume shipments later in the year.  The ADASA PAD3500 integrates the SkyeTek M8 module into a belt worn device that offers battery powered wireless connectivity into the enterprise IT system.  The wearable device draws information from centralized data stores and uses it to program Gen2 tags with EPC compliant information.  The Gen2 tags are then manually affixed to cases and their shipment information is noted in the company’s database for sending advance shipping notices to retailers.

“The challenge for ADASA was to rapidly design-in a compact and low power RFID tag encoder module that worked across a variety of protocols and different form factors and then wrapping it into a single wearable solution that suits the needs of their CPG customers,” said Rob Balgley, CEO of SkyeTek.  “ADASA’s design challenges are truly where we excel and we are pleased to be working on a product that is so well aligned with our capabilities while at the same time delivering an overwhelming value proposition to their customers.”
