New Solutions and Services, Industry Accolades and a $10 Million Series C Round of Funding Lead to Tripled Revenue Growth

Westminster, Colo., March 3, 2008 – SkyeTek, Inc., the leading provider of embedded RFID reader technology, continues to enable organizations in the healthcare industry to ensure patient safety and prevent counterfeiting through innovative, cost-effective RFID solutions. Today at Pittcon, SkyeTek is further demonstrating its success with notable customers including Iris Diagnostics and Aionex, which have both implemented SkyeTek’s solutions within the past year.

SkyeTek’s success in the healthcare space is best exemplified by its work with Iris Diagnostics, a division of IRIS International Inc., (NASDAQ: IRIS) a leading manufacturer of medical diagnostic systems. In the healthcare industry, using reagents of the proper type, freshness, and authenticity is critical to ensuring proper instrument performance. Counterfeiting poses a significant threat as cloned reagents tend to negatively affect patient safety, recurring revenue, insurance costs, and provider brand equity.

“Our urinalysis system relies on the authenticity of reagents, so using the wrong reagent can affect the outcome of tests and ultimately patients’ diagnoses,” said John Yi, Corporate Vice President for Operations, Iris Diagnostics. “SkyeTek’s RFID technology provides us with a unique combination of intelligent, secure software and affordable hardware that allows us to cost-effectively ensure the safety of patients that rely on the accuracy of our results. With SkyeTek, we can rest assured that patients are receiving the high-quality care that they associate with Iris.”

To thwart counterfeits, Iris adopted SkyeTek’s M2 SkyeModule with SkyeSecurity as its single source solution for authenticating reagents used in its flagship product, the iQ®200 Automated Urinalysis System. The M2 creates a unique digital fingerprint for the iQ®200’s reagent units, ensuring accurate test results that maintain the highest levels of patient safety.

In another example, Aionex leverages SkyeTek’s M1 HF SkyeModule to RFID-enable emergency rooms, operating rooms, and intensive care units. The readers provide Aionex’s Patient Response Platform (PRP) with the information it needs to monitor patient care, authenticate hospital staff members, and track process efficacy. RFID has proven to be efficient and cost-effective in the hospitals that have implemented Aionex’s PRP. For example, Huntsville Hospital in Alabama has more than 350 RFID readers and thousands of tags in use. By implementing the SkyeTek-enabled system, the hospital has improved efficiencies and communications that directly impact surgical start times.

“The healthcare industry offers exciting opportunities for us to implement networked RFID technology,” said SkyeTek CEO Rob Balgley. “RFID is a cost-effective option that is being employed more and more in the healthcare space to improve reliability and efficiency. By choosing SkyeTek, our customers reap the benefits of our continued momentum in the healthcare space, where we are helping organizations improve their products by integrating RFID in innovative ways.”

Healthcare solutions from SkyeTek are designed to integrate seamlessly with existing products to add a layer of intelligence and create a fully networked technology. SkyeTek provides the world’s smallest and least expensive RFID readers, with advanced software that allows integration of RFID into new applications.
