Award Comes Days after SkyeTek Earns Recognition as the Embedded Reader Provider to CMP Excellence in RFID Technology Winner ADASA.
Westminster, Colo., April 5, 2007 – SkyeTek, Inc., the leading provider of embedded RFID reader technology, was announced the winner of the EDN 17th Annual Innovation Award in the Computers, Boards, and Buses category. SkyeTek won the award with its M9 SkyeModule, the world’s most intelligent, globally compliant UHF reader module. Approximately half the size of a business card, the M9 was designed for embedded RFID applications such as item-level inventory, product authentication, and patron management.
"SkyeTek is pleased and honored to be recognized as a technology innovator by EDN," noted Rob Balgley, CEO of SkyeTek. "We design our HF and UHF reader modules from the ground up to serve the unique needs of the embedded design engineer. Ease of integration, robust functionality, and uncommon efficiencies in cost, space, and power consumption allow the M9 to deliver unprecedented uses of RFID in anti-counterfeiting, inventory management, and access control."
Based on SkyeTek’s Advanced Universal Reader Architecture (AURA), the M9 leads the RFID industry in UHF reader price-performance and meets regulatory compliance requirements for the world’s major markets including North America, Europe (ETSI 302 208), Korea, and Japan. The M9’s ReaderWare Embedded software stack allows application logic, policies, and advanced security to be executed on the reader allowing unprecedented levels of intelligence to be delivered to the products in which the M9 gets embedded.
This award is the second distinction for SkyeTek in the past week. On March 29, SkyeTek’s customer ADASA was announced the winner of CMP’s Excellence in RFID Technology Award for its SkyeTek-enabled PAD3500, a low-cost, wearable mobile encoder that supports the encoding of UHF RFID tags anywhere.
Customers can purchase SkyeTek’s M9 as a reader module (which includes a ReaderWare license) or as a ReaderWare software license. Licensing also provides customers with access to the M9 ReaderDNA module reference design, allowing them to integrate the technology directly into their product design and realize 40 – 70% cost savings versus common UHF reader modules available in the market today.
